HAPPY KITTEN
I’m not happy kitten, kitten I’m not happy
I’ve been getting distant, feeling kind of crappy
The sun will fall, the moon will rise
I flip through film of better times
I’m not happy writing shit about the winter
It doesn’t please me to be seen as something bitter
I don’t have money for the things I think I need
And it takes too much for me to think of you and me
But when you come home, come home to me
Like a ship that sails but tires of the sea
I know you slept beneath the webs in Germany
I keep that photo in my box of travel things
I fear that when you get back it will all be different
I also fear that everything will be the same
I have the choice: I can run
Or I can sit and drink and stare into the sun
Either way, it isn’t you, it’s me
There is no ship that sails that hates the sea
The sun will rise, the moon will quiet
And I’ll calm the melancholy burden of the riot
